Ingredients

  • 1 Boston butt pork roast I used a 9 lb roast
  • BBQ Seasoning my favorite: Weber Kansas City BBQ Rub
  • For the sauce:
  • 1 cup drippings from pork
  • 2 cups ketchup
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon ground mustard
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons liquid smoke

Instructions

  • Generously season the pork roast all over with the bbq seasoning. Place in slow cooker and cook for 8-10 hours on LOW (or overnight), or until the meat easily shreds with a fork.
  • Carefully remove pork from slow cooker (meat forks work well for this), and pour drippings into a gravy separator or measuring cup. Pour off 1 cup of drippings and discard the rest.
  • Return pork to the slow cooker and shred using tongs or meat forks.
  • Mix together all sauce ingredients and pour over the shredded pork. Cook on LOW for another 2 hours, or HIGH for 1 hour.
